Taipei is one of the most highly populated places in the country of Taiwan, with its inhabitants numbering to three million. Mandarin is the official language of the people of Taipei, but some Taipei natives may be found to be speaking other native Chinese languages as well.

The lifestyle of the people in Taipei is described as one of the best portrayals of the term hussle and bustle–everywhere, you see people in their cars, people walking quickly along the streets, aisles and walkways. In the morning, you get to see the city in all its glory covered with a layer of smog. Air pollution remains to be a problem in Taipei just as it is a problem in many developing cities.

One of the best local attractions in Taipei is Taipei 101, a majestic skycraper that has garnered several international recognitions for its innovative design.

Trading in Taipei involves the use of the New Taiwan dollar. To be able to use the electricity in there, make sure that when you go to Taipei, you have with you 110 volt or 60 hertz regulators or adaptors for the plugs.

Oolong tea is mostly produced in Taiwan, Southeast China, Vietnam and Indonesia. Among them, Taiwan is the most important oolong production area. Taiwan Oolong tea has been popular worldwide for over 150 years.

It is also known as Formosa oolong. The finest quality and grade of oolongs are mostly high mountain oolong which means the tea that grows from 1000 meters above sea level to approximately 2600 meters. As a matter of fact, growing tea on high mountain areas costs much more than planting on low altitudes. It is one of the reasons why prices of high mountain teas are proportional to its plantation altitude.

High mountain oolong typically is more rich, smooth and fragrant and you can brew it more times before it loses its flavor. The popular representatives of Taiwan high mountain teas include Dayuling Oolong, Li Shan, Shanlinxi Oolong, Alishan Oolong and Wuling Oolong.

There are certain advantages for high mountain plantations such as great amount of sun light, sufficient amount of rain, extreme temperature difference between day and night and heavily fertilized soils perfect to grow tea. Also, the high potential of foggy afternoons hinders and makes the production of first grade high altitude tea difficult.

During regular days, it does not take extra efforts for farmers to take care of plantations. However, things are a lot tougher during the harvest seasons. Farmers often need to hire pickers which are paid by case by case basis with transportation included. Higher wages are paid as the higher the altitude of plantations. Normally, experienced pickers can collect around 3 to 5 Taiwanese kg of raw tea leaves per hour by hands. Tea picking begin really early in the morning. It is the best time for the pickers since raw leaves weigh more due to morning dew.

However, the leaves picked during this time period is not the best in quality. First grade high altitude tea often requires raw leaves to be picked between 10AM to 3 PM. This is because the high temperature at noontime allows the leaves to hold less water. You may be wondering why doesn’t the pickers pick during just this time frame? The reality is that pickers are limited in quantity and are paid by the number of cases they can fill. If they are allowed to work only during the best picking time zone, which is the hottest parts of the day, they will not be able to pick enough raw leaves to make enough money.

First grade high altitude tea is not abundant because planting skills, processing skills, weather, location of plantation and seasons all affect the taste of tea. In the high mountain areas, the afternoon weather usually becomes foggy. This allows for the withering of raw leaves, which is one of tea processing steps, to be more difficult and causes the leaves to be less fragrant.

What happens if you take the time to a place where you want to be? One of the best and exciting places to spend your vacation is Taiwan. In fact, some men from United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and other countries have one thing that they want in Taiwan. Not only they want to spend vacation there, but to date Taiwanese women. Why do they want to date Taiwanese women? Is it because of their looks and beauty? Actually, Taiwan is a place that you can see beautiful women who look younger than any other women in other countries. You cannot identify their age, because of their beauty. Even they are in the mid-40′s or 50′s, you can guess that they are still between the age of twenty to thirty.

Taiwanese women are so cute and friendly, especially to foreign men. They prefer to develop their relationships to foreigners like guiding them anywhere in the city, or talking about their life and culture here in Taiwan. When foreign men saw a Taiwanese girl for the first time, they become attracted and inviting them to a date. Dating in Taiwan are much different than what you experienced in your own country. Taiwan has some anti aging products which are so effective that make them feel young and beautiful, and it will attract lots of men on Taiwan and the rest of the world. If we compare maintaining an anti aging product between a Taiwanese and an American, we can say that these products are more effective to a Taiwanese than an American. If there are any problems on dating Taiwanese women, there are lots of Taiwan dating guide books and articles online to read and apply. It may help a lot to improve the relationship of both a Taiwanese woman and a foreign guy, either friendly or in love with each other.

Most Asian countries are full of beautiful and young aged women like Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Thailand and China. Sometimes, we do not understand why they are more beautiful than English-speaking women. We can say it is because of the ethnicity and race, and we cannot change it. More and more men from English-speaking countries are spending their money to fly across any Asian country just to date with these beautiful women, whether friendly or in a relationship. These men wants them to be their girlfriend, and we can see that both a foreign man and a Taiwanese girl are holding hands while walking around the park or at a center. Taiwanese women are something special just like other Asian countries, as foreigners cannot resist themselves to develop their relationship to Taiwanese women. It is like they finally found their dream girl to date with.

Taiwan is well known for its tourist friendly attitude, cultural attractions and scenic beauty. Taiwan offers a multitude of options for accommodation ranging from international hotels, mid-range, budget, and private rentals. While the international hotels offer a number of amenities like fine dining, gym facilities and shopping arcades, there are also a variety of options for budget travelers like youth hostels and budget hotels. For people intending to live and work in Taiwan for a while, then it is recommended to either rent your own apartment or share with others. Renting your own place would usually require you to sign a contract for one year, although there are an abundant amount of rooms available in shared apartments that are more flexible about this.

When it comes to Taiwanese cuisine, there are a number of options to choose from. The Taiwanese cuisine carries influences from the Chinese, Japanese and even the Dutch cultures. The Hakka cuisine is more oily and spicy as compared to the Taiwanese cuisine which is relatively simple and light. Apart from the typical restaurant fare, many tourists prefer snacks like oyster with noodles and oyster omelets, beef noodles, and other delicious dishes which are quite famous in the night markets in Taiwan. Taiwan has opened up to more western cuisine in recent years, and there are now more and more cafes and restaurants with western style menus if that is what you prefer.

The Taipei 101 Tower is touted as one of the worlds tallest building, and up until recently was the holder of the title. It houses luxury shops, institutions and offices apart from an observation deck and high speed elevators. There is also a food court in the basement, and one of Taipei’s biggest bookstores, Page One, on the 3rd floor.

The National Palace Museum is situated in the suburbs of Taipei and houses a great collection of works of arts, calligraphy, paintings and world famous antiques. Die hard shoppers can shop at the Taipei night markets including Shilin, Tonghua, and Huaxi Jie, also known as Snake Alley, where you can get anything from bubble tea to a snakes blood drink at a bargain price.

If you wish to explore more of the island then you can use the High Speed Rail or HSR, a hi-tech train which is fast, clean and safe and is a hot favourite with children. There is also a fast and efficient local train and bus service to get you around the island.

Nature lovers can visit the Taroko National Park which has magnificent gorges made of marble and sandstone. You can also walk on the Liushue-Heliu Trail which has some great trails and tunnels and a glimpse of the magnificent flora and fauna.

Whether you are a nature enthusiast or a modern city dweller or a person who prefers to explore the past eras, Taiwan has something for everyone who visits this beautiful country.

As most people live in the western portion of Taiwan, that is where the greatest concentration of roads and railway systems are located. These roads and railway systems are well-developed. The government-owned airline in Taiwan is China Airlines. The largest airport in Taiwan can be found outside T’aipei and is the Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, with another international airport located in southernTaiwan at Kaohsiung. The main ports in Taiwan are Chilung, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Suao and T’aishung.

There are four classes of railway carriages – economic class Fu-shing, class Jue-kuan, and the highest class Tsi-chiang. A traveler can choose what class to use depending on time and money amount, as well as his purposes of a trip. Besides, there are short railroad routes, such as A-li, Gigi, Ping-shi, and Nei-wan. Tourists who visit Taiwan usually use short railroad routes in order to have more time for seeing more sights for a short period of time.It is necessary to note that internal airlines are a popular kind of transport in Taiwan. There is an active air service between large cities in Taiwan.

Flights are as popular as tours on buses. The underground is the most convenient type of transport. There are six lines of the underground in Taiwan. The price of a ticket is about 20-60 monetary units in the national currency. Taxi is available in all large cities. The journey price is 70Taiwan dollars for the first kilometer and five new Taiwan dollars for every 300 meters. On the whole, the taxi price in all main cities of Taiwan is set up by a municipal corporation. Consequently, the price can be different in this or that city. However, it is possible to set up a fixed price without the real meter record in long country trips.

There are all possible kinds of transport in Taiwan. However, there some recommendations that you should know before visiting Taiwan. There is an inland system of railroads which includes short railroad routes. These short routes are used by tourists to see more for a short period of time. As it can be very difficult to buy railroad tickets during a holiday, it is recommended to order tickets 14 days before a trip via phone or the Internet. Internal airlines are the other kind of transport that is very convenient to use.

Motor-cycles and bicycles are a very popular kind of transport in Taiwan. Bicycles are usually used within the campus. Many universities have special parking zones for motor-cycles and bicycles. If you are going to use a taxi you should know that additional 5 newTaiwan dollars are taken for every 2 minutes of stoppage and the general price of a trip increases at 20% after 11PM. Besides, additional 10 newTaiwan dollars are taken for a call and baggage placing. Summarizing, there are all possible kinds of transport in Taiwan. Consequently, you can choose any kind of transport that is convenient for you.

Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, has evolved through many stages since its founding in the eighteenth century. Rice fields have yielded to skyscrapers, and a modern, commercial city of millions has grown out of once quiet settlements. After climbing 508 metres up the Taipei 101 tower, the highest structure in the world, it can be seen easily from anywhere in the city, one can look down on the genuine Taipei amidst all the modern buildings: temples, markets, the National Palace Museum and in between them, the many old streets.

There was a swamp at the site of Taipei about 300 years ago, right where one of Asia’s most modern cities now stands. Only the Pingpu, the original people of Formosa, who lived in the higher lying regions around the Taipei Basin, were able to reach this area by canoe. Han Chinese from China came later to fish and trade, but they stayed on the banks of the Tarsui River and did not venture into the area of modern Taipei. In 1709, a Chinese farmer named Chen Lai Chang from Chuanchou laid the foundations of a farm house in Takala, which is now central Taipei. From that point onwards, the number of settlers continually grew. The original settlement was known as Manka.

From Manka to Tataocheng: The administration of Manka and the surrounding area was mainly handled by immigrants from various parts of mainland China. Because of differing views regarding the future of the administrative structure, tensions between the residents soon escalated. The violent confrontations that resulted came to an end in 1823.

One of the groups that was defeated fled from Manka, on the bank of the Tamsui River, to Tataocheng. There they began to make the land farmable land laid the foundations for a flourishing community. Tataocheng surpassed Manka in the nineteenth century, and became the centre of Taipei Prefecture in 1875.

Fast modernisation: When the Japanese colonised Taipei in 1895, they built their main district in Taipei, and the city continued to develop steadily thereafter, even after the departure of the occupiers in 1945 and after the break with mainland China. Within a hundred years, the once rural district had developed into the administrative, economic and cultural centre of Taiwan.

Manka, Tataocheng and Chengnei have all lost their original appearance, but a number of historically important sites have been preserved, including the Lin Family Villa and Garden, once the home of a very powerful clan in the nineteenth century, as well as the Peace Park and the 1919 Presidential Palace.

Modern city with established traditions: Today, all glass office high rises, luxury condominiums and modern shopping districts are situated along wide, tree lined boulevards. Elegant restaurants, stylish nightclubs and appearances by international stars are all part of people’s lives. Yet the traditional culture and way of life carries on below the contemporary surface.

The main island of Taiwan, also known as Formosa Formosa, meaning “beautiful island”, is located in East Asia off the coast of mainland China, southwest of the main islands of Japan but directly west of the end of Japan’s Ryukyu Islands, and north-northwest of the Philippines. It is bound to the east by the Pacific Ocean, to the south by the South China Sea and the Luzon Strait, to the west by the Taiwan Strait and to the north by the East China Sea. Here are some places to visit in Taiwan:

1. Mt. Yushan – Don’t miss seeing the Jade Mountain, Mt. Yushan, which is Northeastern Asia’s highest peak. Exercise your limbs by climbing this 3,952-meter-high mountain. You’ll be treated to crisp mountain air and a breathtaking view at the top.

2. Yang Min Shan National Park – This a favorite place due to its hot springs, wonderful flora and wildlife and spas. Its mineral springs are popular with people from Taipei. Just 45 minutes by bus or 70 minutes by train, visitors can go hiking or have a picnic here.

3. Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall – This palatial structure is also known as the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. Built to commemorate Chiang Kai Shek, the building represents the flag of Taiwan with its blue roofs, red flowerbeds, and white walls. Lush gardens flank the hall, and it is located close to the National Theatre and National Concert Hall.

4. Penghu – Penghu is an archipelago of 64 islands between Taiwan and the mainland. It has sandy beaches, fishing villages, and delicious seafood. Its only city of Makung is a beautiful place with an outdoor market, fishing harbor, and temples.

5.Tienhsiang – Located in Tienhsiang is the Taroko Gorge, probably Taiwan’s most beautiful tourist attraction. It is 19 km long with cliffs dropping away to a rushing river of water. The Eternal Spring Shrine straddles a waterfall and is a memorial to the 450 workers who died constructing the Taroko Highway.

6. Lung Shan Temple – Also known as the Dragon Mountain Temple, this temple is very impressive for its architecture and religious practices where worshippers give offerings to the various gods here, the main one being the Goddess of Mercy. Offerings such as fruit, flowers, and money are made here to the deities, and this is done by burning paper money or putting it in the offertory box. The temple is situated in the Wanhua district, just near the Huashi Night Market.

7. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall – Don’t miss this great hall where a 30-foot statue of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, who played a pivotal role in Taiwanese history, adorns the entrance. Tourists can watch the changing of the guard. They can also watch world-class shows in the theatre on the upper floors.

8. The National Palace Museum – Comparable to the best museums in the world like the Louvre, the National Palace Museum contains one of the most extensive collections of Chinese artifacts . It is twin to the Palace Museum in Beijing, which was split in twain by the civil war, which also resulted in the formation of Taiwan. It contains masterpieces which provide glimpses of Chinese craftsmanship.

For many good reasons to you come Taiwan. Come here you see a lot of the beautiful islands or you can mountain climb, Taiwan captivates everyone; a vacation here is an experience you will want to repeat time and time again.
